Craft Beer from Scotland
Through BrewDog, Scotland is inextricably linked with the first craft beer wave in Europe around the 2010s. BrewDog has left a lasting mark on craft beer across the continent. But of course, the Scottish craft beer world has much much more to offer!
The country has a pub and beer culture historically influenced from England. Many popular beer styles are similar to those found in the UK. In addition to BrewDog, which is now represented and known around the world, there are another Craft Beer breweries from Scotland that are now internationally known: Tempest Brewing, Fyne Ales, Vault City or Fierce Beer.
Scotch Ale - a very famous beer style originating in Scotland
A typical Scottish beer style is Scotch Ale. These beers were mainly intended for export from Edinburgh to other countries in the 18th century. Today, the beer style stands for dark, very malty beers, some of which are even brewed with smoked malt.
