Taste and aroma of this Gruit Saisons is characterized by the marsh herb Gagel. It gives the Hiärfst notes of orange and resin.
Gagel has been one of the most important ingredients for Gruit beers before hops were widely available in Europe. This herb was also central to beer production in the Münsterland region. Kemker Kultuur revive this tradition with their Gruit beers! The Hiärfst is a complex Saison yet has great drinkability. With hints of orange, resin, grapefruit peel, herbs and wood. This beer has aged 10 months in red wine barrels!
The Hiärfst is part of Kemker Kultuur's Seasonal Gruit series - each season is represented by an herb in the beer.
