Wonderfully strong, caramel and bitter.
The Trappists of the monastery of La Trappe brewed this beer for their 125th anniversary and since then it has been a fixed part of the beer range from the brewery. But it is only brewed once a year. The beer is an amber-coloured Belgian Strong Ale that tastes mainly of toffee and caramel.
With 7% alcohol, the La Trappe Dubbel is rather on the lower edge in terms of alcohol content in the Dubbel category. But this is what makes the Trappist beer particularly accessible!
