Westmalle Extra: A Patersbier from the Belgian Trappist monastery.
A Patersbier is a light pale blonde ale that was originally consumed only by the monks within the monastery and was not intended for sale.
Westmalle Extra has a pleasantly low alcohol content of 4.8%, yet it is full-bodied and full of character on the palate. It is pleasantly dry and has aromas of stone fruits, flowers, hay, bread, grass and spices.
The second fermentation in the bottle provides a lively carbonation.
