Orval
The Orval Brewery, located on the grounds of the abbey of the same name, was founded in 1931. Unlike other Trappist breweries, Orval brews only one beer for general sale. This is unique by its character and different from all others. The Orval beer is characterized by its long maturation time, which is supplemented by a dry hopping as well as a secondary fermentation with Brettanomyces (wild yeasts) . As with all Trappist breweries, the income of the brand goes to the welfare and maintenance of the monastery.
