Põhjala - Öö

It all started with this Imperial Baltic Porter. Today it is THE classic from Põhjala!

A beer as dark as Estonian winter nights (Öö means "night"). However, it is strong enough to keep you warm and full of delicious aromas of roasted malt and dark fruits. In the robust and creamy body of this Imperial Porter, hints of dark caramel, toffee, licorice, and a bit of smoke can be found. The fruity notes range from blackberry to dried plum. Of course, it challenges its drinkers, as 10% alcohol is no joke, but it is definitely worth it. Because the taste experience is unique!

The Foundation of Success

Entering the market with a 10.5% strong dark beer - can you imagine that? It certainly takes a large dose of courage and self-confidence to launch an Imperial Porter as the first beer of a new brewery. The Estonian brewery did just that. It was the first beer that Põhjala ever commercially released. And it was - and still is - a great success. No wonder it has been continuously in the brewery's portfolio since 2013.

The Öö is not just for lovers of dark beers in general. It excites all fans of craft beer! Especially in the right situation or in the right combination with food, this beer knows how to shine.
