A Smoky Masterpiece – Fired by Alderwood!
When the Bamberg legend Schlenkerla releases a new brew, the craft beer world takes notice. The Schlenkerla Erle Schwarzbier is a true specialty, as the malt is not dried over beechwood as usual, but over an open alderwood fire. The result is a fascinatingly complex Rauchbier (Smoked Beer) that impresses with a finer, more subtle smoky note than its classic "Märzen" sibling. In the glass, it presents a deep black color with ruby reflections, while the palate is greeted by roasted malt aromas, dark chocolate, and a noble, floral bitterness from high-quality aroma hops from the Hallertau region. At a sessionable 4.2% ABV, this black beer is surprisingly easy to drink and concludes with a dry, smoky, and spicy finish. Best enjoyed slightly chilled with hearty roasts or spicy cheeses – an absolute must-have for every fan of authentic brewing craftsmanship!
