Fuerst Wiacek: The New Era of Craft Beer from Berlin
Fuerst Wiacek is a Berlin-based brewery that has made a name for itself through its passion for innovative beer styles and exceptional quality. The brewery became particularly well-known for introducing the New England IPA (NEIPA) to Germany. In this article, you’ll learn more about the brewery’s history, its founders, its most popular beers, what makes it special, and other interesting facts about this trailblazing Berlin brewery.
From Hobby to Business
The story of Fuerst Wiacek began in 2015, when friends Georg Fürst and Lukasz Wiacek met at the Berta Block bouldering gym in Berlin. Alongside their shared passion for climbing, they discovered a mutual love for whisky and homebrewing. Their initial plan was to brew a beer that could later be distilled into whisky — but their first homemade beer turned out so well that they decided to focus entirely on brewing.
In December 2016, they brewed their first commercial beer: a New England IPA called "A Quick One While She's Away". This wasn’t just their first beer brewed on a commercial scale — it was also the very first NEIPA ever brewed in Germany.
