Hopacabana Brewing – Make Bierstadt Great Again
Hopacabana Brewing is one of the freshest craft beer projects to emerge from Germany's historic beer capital, Dortmund. Behind the name – a playful mashup of Copacabana and Hop – stand two Dortmund locals, Tobias and Christoph, who have made it their mission to spark a renaissance of their hometown as a beer city. Their motto: „Make Bierstadt Great Again."
The story begins in late 2019, when Tobias started home brewing. During the Corona lockdown, Christoph joined in – and roughly two to three years and countless test brews later, the hobby became a serious beer project. Their focus: bringing the new wave of hop-forward craft beer into a city where Pale Ales and IPAs long remained unfamiliar concepts for many.
