Brother Jupiter: A Galactic Celebration Hazy IPA

The countdown has begun! Basqueland Brewing, in collaboration with their friends at Sparkle from Brittany, invites you to join a mission to celebrate their 11th anniversary. As part of this special milestone, they’ve crafted Brother Jupiter, a DDH IPA that’s truly out of this world, showcasing why this Hernani-based brewery remains at the absolute European top tier.

Brother Jupiter is a medium-bodied DDH IPA with huge aromatic intensity. A carefully selected grain bill of Ultra Pale, Chit, Lager malt, and oats creates a hazy, silky base, perfectly setting the stage for an explosive hop showcase. While the original text hinted at secret hops, we now know the stars of this show: Strata, Riwaka, Citra, and Nectaron Cryo are lavishly added in the dry hop, with an extra dose of Citra in the whirlpool for maximum impact.

The result is an absolute aromatic boom! Layers of luscious passion fruit, ripe peach, and red berries burst forth, beautifully complemented by the distinctive diesel-like character often found in New Zealand hops. This beer truly balances intense fruitiness with incredible drinkability, offering a drinking experience as radiant as its namesake planet.

Brother Jupiter presents itself with a very pale color, a delightful haze, and a stable, fine-pored head. The aroma promises an aromatic boom, delivering on notes of passion fruit, ripe peach, and red berries, alongside that intriguing hint of New Zealand hops. On the palate, a true fruit explosion unfolds, carried by a medium body and an incredibly silky mouthfeel that almost reminds one of a fruit smoothie. The finish introduces a light, elegant bitterness that masterfully balances the intense fruit notes, followed by a final burst of fruit that deliciously lingers on the palate.
