Black Iris - Mr. Crosby: The Mystical Hazy IPA from Nottingham (15th Birthday Brew!)
Get ready for a real party in a can! Mr. Crosby isn't just any Hazy IPA; it's a very special LIMITED EDITION 15TH BIRTHDAY BREW from Black Iris, crafted in collaboration with their good friends at Glasshouse Brewery (their third time teaming up!). They also brought in Loughran Brewers Select and the hop maestros at Crosby Hops, whose incredible products have consistently delivered on quality, flavour, and aroma.
Given the occasion and the expertise of Crosby Hops, it made perfect sense to dive headfirst into hop territory with a massive, juicy New England IPA. This isn't just a beer; it's a celebration of friendships and fantastic ingredients, resulting in a brew that truly stands out.
The brewers focused intensely on Idaho 7 and El Dorado hops for this birthday concoction. The result? A vibrant symphony of flavours reminiscent of freshly squeezed orange juice, complemented by a subtle, intriguing 'weedy' dankness and an undeniable burst of juicy stone fruit. It's a complex and utterly delicious profile that keeps you coming back for more.
To perfect this masterpiece, they fermented Mr. Crosby with London Fog yeast, which contributes delightful fruity esters, enhancing the overall aromatic experience. The use of Heidelberg malt lends the beer its signature, eye-catching canary yellow colour, making it as visually appealing as it is delicious.
And, as is tradition when Black Iris teams up with Glasshouse, the beer's name always pays homage to the Prince Of Darkness. This special brew even features excellent artwork inspired by Aleister Crowley, adding an extra layer of intrigue to an already captivating beer. Don't miss out on this limited edition gem!
