The French craft beer forge Popihn is renowned for its uncompromising approach to modern, hop-forward beer styles. With this DDH New England IPA, the brewers from Vaumort once again demonstrate why they belong to the European elite. The concept is as simple as it is brilliant: a massive load of hops meets a silky-smooth malt base. Through Double Dry Hopping (DDH), the essential oils of the hops are transported directly into the beer without the harsh bitterness.

At the center are three absolute heavyweights. The New Zealand Nectaron brings an almost outrageous exoticism, while Idaho 7 provides the necessary depth and Citra adds the classic, zesty character. A beer that takes no prisoners and puts freshness firmly in the spotlight.

In the Glass

In the glass, the NEIPA presents itself in an extremely hazy, almost opaque honey-yellow, topped by a stable, fine-pored head. The nose is immediately hit by an intense wave of ripe pineapple, mango, and passion fruit. Thanks to the Nectaron hops, clear notes of peach and nectarine resonate, while the Idaho 7 contributes subtle nuances of black currant and a hint of resin. On the palate, the beer is wonderfully full-bodied and creamy, almost like a tropical fruit juice. The bitterness remains in the background, leaving the stage entirely to the fruity trio of tropical fruits and grapefruit.
