Popihn - WEST COAST IPA STRATA / SIMCOE

California Sunshine from France: Popihn West Coast IPA

The French brewery Popihn has long since made a name for itself through uncompromising quality and artisanal precision. With the West Coast IPA Strata / Simcoe, the brewers from Vaumort dedicate themselves to a true classic of the craft beer movement. This is not about trendy turbidity, but about returning to what made the India Pale Ale famous: a crisp bitterness, a slender malt body, and an intense hop aroma that gets straight to the point.

The focus of this brew is on two of the most exciting hop varieties from the US West Coast. While the classic Simcoe provides the necessary backbone, the modern Strata hop adds an extra layer to the flavor profile. The result is an extremely drinkable and characterful IPA that bridges the gap between French finesse and American hop enthusiasm.

In the Glass

The beer presents itself in a brilliant golden yellow and, true to the West Coast style, is pleasantly clear with a stable, white head. The nose is immediately dominated by intense resinous notes and the typical pink grapefruit of the Simcoe hop. On the palate, the full complexity unfolds: the Strata hops contribute nuances of passion fruit and strawberry, which harmonize perfectly with herbal accents and a touch of cedar. The mouthfeel is lean and dry, which highlights the striking but well-integrated bitterness in the finish.
