West Coast Power: The Latvian-German Hop Collaboration

When the Latvian hop specialists from Ārpus Brewing team up with the experts from Counterpart, an aromatic firework display is inevitable. For this Double Dry Hopped West Coast DIPA, the two breweries have bridged the gap between classics and modern Southern Hemisphere varieties. The goal was clear: to create a powerful, clear, and uncompromising IPA that combines West Coast virtues with modern DDH techniques.

Ārpus is worldwide renowned for its intense IPAs and remains true to its philosophy of doing things properly in this collaboration. By combining two US legends with two New Zealand stars, a complex profile is created that brings both resinous depth and tropical excellence to the glass.

In the glass

In the glass, this DIPA presents a brilliant golden yellow with a slight, style-appropriate haze and a stable head. From the very first sniff, intense aromas of zesty grapefruit and pineapple dominate, courtesy of Centennial and Cascade hops. The New Zealand varieties Nelson Sauvin and Riwaka complement the bouquet with elegant notes of white wine grapes and gooseberries, along with a hint of passion fruit. On the palate, the beer is full-bodied with a present but well-integrated bitterness. Resinous pine accents meet a dry texture and a finish characterized by lime and a touch of black currant.
