Giesinger Bräu – Munich’s youngest independent brewery with character
Giesinger Bräu was founded in 2006 in the Obergiesing district and is recognized as the first newly established brewery in the city in over a century. What began as a garage project has grown into one of Munich’s most exciting craft beer destinations, blending traditional brewing techniques with innovative variety and a strong commitment to regionality and sustainability.
The brewery’s portfolio includes classic Bavarian styles like Helles, Weißbier, Dunkel, and Bock, as well as modern specialties such as IPAs, Porters, Pale Ales, and seasonal creations. All beers are unfiltered, unpasteurized, and brewed in open fermentation tanks, reflecting true artisanal quality.
With its new location on Detmoldstraße, Giesinger Bräu has tapped its own deep well, meeting the criteria of a genuine “Munich brewery.” This ensures independence of water supply and officially makes Giesinger the seventh brewery in Munich.
In addition to brewing, the brewery runs a cozy Bräustüberl, a beer garden, and a popular standing bar, with participation in Oktoberfest also a stated goal—positioning Giesinger as a modern brewery deeply rooted in Bavarian beer tradition.
