Sudden Death Brewing | Best Craft Beer from Germany

The two founders of this brewery are a bit crazy - in a positive sense. Eric Nagel and Oliver Schmökel come from the tranquil, touristy yet beautiful Timmendorf beach on the Baltic Sea and have founded one of the best brewing projects in Germany here. It doesn't quite fit into the picture of the place by the sea. Eric and Olli don't quite fit into the picture either.

Rock 'n' Roll at the Baltic Sea

The two founders are tattooed, ice hockey fans and berry freaks. So they are something like birds of paradise in the bourgeois Timmendorf. But that doesn't matter to them at all. That's good. Also otherwise Sudden Death Brewing pretty much only do what they like. Their focus is exactly on the beer styles that are absolutely trendy at the moment. The motto is hops. Hops, hops and again hops in any form. Brewed are dry-hopped Pale Ales, IPAs in New England, Double or Triple Gown.

The Hype is real

With these beers, Sudden Death causes a real hype every time. With Untappd they achieve top scores beyond 4.0. Thanks to the loyal fanbase. But the friends of Sudden Death keep getting more and more. Even the colourfully illustrated tins and the loud and eye-catching merchandise is a real hit and is bought en masse.

Beers without brewery

The crazy thing is that Sudden Death do not even have their own brewery. At the beginning of their existence they brewed at different small breweries in Germany. The beer was bottled. In the meantime they brew exclusively in Gundelfingen, Bavaria in the brewery of FrauGruber. BrewHeart is also brewed there and the modern facilities are considered a hotspot for hop creations in Germany.

But Sudden Death Brewing wouldn't be Sudden Death if it weren't for the look ahead and up. An own brewery is planned. The only thing missing is the location. Thanks to Corona, everything will be delayed anyway, but the brewery should be in its home town. That's where the families are, that's where the origin is. But the brewery should not only be for brewing, but also for drinking. And eaten. The tourists in Timmendorf and in the north of Germany can already look forward to parties and horny beers.
